Eaton, Hong Kong Celebrates Earth Hour 2014 with Arrays of Festivities
(20 March 2014, Hong Kong) – Eaton, Hong Kong once again joins Earth Hour 2014, this is the sixth year for the hotel to support this world-wide campaign organised by World Wild Fund to raise public awareness of global warming and to promote a low-carbon lifestyle.
To encourage guests and staff to go green with the hotel, Eaton, Hong Kong will start celebrating Earth Hour 2014 few days earlier with environmentally friendly events internally and externally.
Date: 26 March 2014 (Wed) – Make Your Own Eco-enzyme!
Target participants: All hotel staff
To promote good food waste management among all staff, the hotel has invited the eco-enzyme tutors from The Hong Kong Federation of Women’s Centres to demonstrate the way of transforming used fresh kitchen wastes (fruit and vegetable dregs) collected from the hotel restaurants into the miracle eco-enzyme, a multipurpose cleanser for household, agriculture and animal husbandry.
Date: 28 March 2014 (Friday) – Candlelit Lunch
Target participants: All hotel staff
A candlelit lunch will be hosted in the staff canteen on the eve of Earth Hour. Pastry chef, Chef Michael, will also present tailor-made cupcakes for staff to enjoy.

The Lights off Ceremony / “Light-up the Dark” Yoyo Performance / Organic Drink Party
Target participants: All hotel guests
To support the Earth Hour 2014, the hotel has prepared a lights off ceremony on 29 March 2014 (Saturday) from 8:30 to 9:30pm. During the 60 minutes, lights of hotel lobby, exterior billboards and lightings will be switched off and replaced with environmentally friendly organic soy candles.
After the ceremony, a live yoyo performance – “Light-up the Dark” and an Organic Drink Party will be held in T Garden to encourage guests to play a part in this meaningful event.

Skill and deft timing coupled with swinging music – talented yoyo players and champions of the international yoyo contests, Chan Chun Hay and Chan Man Fai from the Hong Kong Yo Yo Fan Club, are going to light-up the dark together with their flashing yoyos.
Organic Drink Party
While enjoying the yoyo performance, our bartender is delighted to treat Earth Hour supporter with a complimentary cocktail, Organic 60+. Inspired by the event, this cocktail is created with refreshing organic ingredients including cucumber vodka, fresh lemon juice, lime juice and strawberry, indicating the beauty of the planet.

Earth Hour is a worldwide event that is organised by the World Wide Fund (WWF) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, encouraging households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change.
