Eaton, Hong Kong launches “Green Meetings by Eaton” Packages

(31 Oct 2013, Hong Kong) – As a pioneer of environmental initiatives within the hospitality industry, Eaton, Hong Kong is proud to take another proactive step by launching “Green Meetings by Eaton”.

“Green Meetings by Eaton” has been created to support the hotel’s sustainability commitment, which has already earned the hotel recognition across the industry including Capital Entrepreneur “Green Enterprise 2012”, 2012 HotelClub Hotel Awards “Best Eco Hotel” and EarthCheck™ Silver Certification 2013 for Environmental Practices.

“Unlike other hotels, at Eaton the “Green Meeting” is the standard and by making this package our sole focus, we can ensure that the products and services we offer are not only environmentally friendly but are also of the highest quality and represent excellent value for money,” said Shane Pateman, General Manager of Eaton, Hong Kong.

Every component of the Green Meeting has been assessed to establish and then minimise its environment impact. For example:

Low carbon menus – We have introduced a selection of low carbon menus made with the freshest and mostly locally sourced ingredients to reduce the carbon footprint generated when imported food is transported across the globe.

Pure filtered water – The hotel has suspended the use of plastic bottled water and serves pure filtered water in re-useable glass bottles. This initiative helps us eliminate the consumption and subsequent disposal of approximately 350,000 plastic bottles every year.

Waste reduction – Bins are provided in all meeting rooms for the collection of any kind of recyclable waste. The introduction of our smart whiteboards gives delegates an alternative to disposable flipcharts; we also serve fresh snacks to avoid unnecessary packaging.

Energy Efficient Venue – In choosing Eaton, event organisers are also opting for a venue that uses the latest generation of energy efficient air-conditioning system and a comprehensive energy efficient management system across the entire building.

Eaton, Hong Kong also exclusively uses Fair Trade Coffee from certified producers in the Asia Pacific region. This initiative supports small family-run farms and helps them to escape from poverty and contribute to the sustainable development of their product.
